IIHL DL Playoff Final - Dublin Wolves 11 Whalers 5
29 June 2008 - 22:22
Having lost the playoff semi-final to Kilkenny Storm,
the Whalers arrived back at the Dundalk Ice Dome
ready to take on the DKIT Ravens for 3rd/4th place,
however a last-second notification arrived from the
IHA stating that due to an unintentional rule
breakage by Kilkenny Storm during their semi-final,
they would have to drop down to the 3rd/4th place
playoff game and the Whalers would take their place
in the 1st/2nd place playoff final against the Dublin
Wolves. Obviously this was a shock to all teams,
however it was a sudden boost to the Whalers to
suddenly be playing in such a prestigious game
against the league champions. According to those who
watched the game, it was eventful and dramatic as the
Whalers staged a comeback during the second period.
However, it was not to be and the Whalers lost to the
Wolves 11-5.

A disappointing game for the Whalers where we were
beaten 9-2 in what was quite a one-sided game at
times. We are looking to bounce back from this defeat
in our next and final game of the regular IIHA
Development League where we take on the Belfast
Eagles on 30th April at 8:30PM.

Dublin Wolves 12 Whalers 2
20 April 2008 - 02:08
The Dublin Wolves came back at the Whalers with a
full-strength squad this evening in what was a very
tiring rematch for a short-benched Whalers squad. The
Whalers did their best to hold off the seemingly
unstoppable Wolves offense and managed to squeeze in
two goals in the third period - Bart Gatensby
managing to score the second goal in the final
seconds of the game. Our next game is on Saturday
26th April at 9:30PM against the Dublin Rams 'B'
team.

eventful game. Our next game will be against the

Latvian Hawks 'B' 3 Whalers 3 (2-1 in Penalty
Shootout)
31 March 2008 - 19:42
After a promising start where the Whalers had managed
a 3-1 lead going into the third period, the Latvian
Hawks pulled the game level by the end of normal
time. After a lengthy penalty shootout, the Hawks
took the game 2-1 in penalties. A disappointing loss
for the Whalers, however we look forward to our next
game on Saturday night at 9:30PM against the Dundalk

DKIT Ravens 0 Whalers 4
14 February 2008 - 01:22
After what has seemed like an age since our last IIHA
Development League game, the Whalers were playing the
Ravens once again in what proved to be a dramatic
game in which the Whalers took the 3 points with a
shutout. Unfortunately the Ravens netminder Miceal
O'Neill was taken off the ice in the third period
after suffering a head injury but at the time of
writing we are told that he is OK and is making a
recovery. We wish him well and also wish to thank the
Ravens for an enjoyable game.

The Whalers managed a 8-3 win over the recently

for hosting the game.
Dundalk Bulls B 2 Whalers 4
09 December 2007 - 02:13
After losing the first match of the season, the
Whalers responded with a 4-2 victory of the Dundalk
Bulls B Team in what was a closely fought game.
However, the team has learned a lot from the first
game and played much better all round in what is a
relief to now have points on the board after only the
second game.
We would like to thank the Dundalk Bulls B Team for a good game and we look forward to the next against the Dublin Rams B on Sunday 23rd December at 16:30. We look forward to seeing as much support there as possible!

The first match of the season for both the Whalers and Kilkenny City Storm resulted in an unfortunate 11-2 loss to the Whalers. We look to learn a lot from this first game and hope for an improved result against the Dundalk Bulls B team on the 8th December.
